[Reflexions on prostata carcinomas with regard to histomorphology and cytomorphometry (author's transl)].

U Stöber, U Schnaidt.

Abstract

Verification of the diagnosis of prostata carcinoma by histology or cytology is still necessary, whereby the grade of tumor differentiation should influence the therapeutic procedure more than it has up to date. Histologically it is more easy to determine the special structure of the carcinoma while cytological classification aims at determination of tumor cell differentiation. The two methods are not comparable but they complement each other. Only after the combined information from histology and cytology has been obtained, is a more precise prognosis and also a differentiated therapeutic procedure possible.
