Type and screen for elective surgery. Results of one year's experience in a small community hospital.

K Lee, V Lachance.

Abstract

The results of elimination of routine crossmatching in certain elective surgical procedures over a one-year period in a small community hospital are reviewed. Substantial savings were realized in technician time and patient cost. This was accomplished safely and easily with the close cooperation of the medical staff.
