Testing the clockface model of amphibian limb regeneration.

Abstract

Contrary to the predictions of the clockface model, rotating a regenerate by 90 degrees produces duplications identical to those resulting from 180 degrees axial reversals. Exchanging regenerates between arms indicates the presence of 2 determined transverse axes.
