Abstract
Cutaneous infection of the thumb by a Syncephalastrum sp. is described in an adult male suffering from diabetic ketosis. The fungus was isolated from the skin and was found to produce arteritis in the dermal vessels. The patient died of diabetes mellitus without any associated systemic mycosis. Syncephalastrum in this case had occurred as an opportunistic infection.Entities:
