Development of the limiting glial membrane of the brain.

D G McLone.

Abstract

The development of the limiting glial epithelium begins following closure of the neural tube. Early, the changes are mostly in cellular organelles with little change in cell form. Postnatally, the process is rapidly accelerated to accommodate and probably direct the development of the underlying cerebral cortex. Besides directing the development of the underlying cortex, the limiting glial layer may participate in cerebral function.
