Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis and bilateral fungal balls terminating in disseminated aspergillosis.

C J Anderson, S Craig, E J Bardana.

Abstract

A unique case of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis associated with bilateral apical aspergillomas terminating in disseminated aspergillosis is presented. Postulated mechanisms of this combination are discussed with respect to the patient's clinical findings. The contribution of systemic and aerosolized corticosteroids are considered major contributing factors to dissemination of disease.
