Abstract
Report of two cases of primary amoebic meningo-encephalitis observed in Zaïre. The microscopic exam of each spinal fluid showed a leucocytosis and the presence of mobile amoebas. Both patients had probably been infected when bathing in small rural ponds. With no amphotericine B available, the authors gave miconazole by intravenous perfusions and intrathecal injections. This treatment had no effect neither on the aspect of the spinal fluid nor on the evolution, and death occurred rapidly.Entities:
