Normal values of philtral length, oral intercommissural distance, and sternal length in newborn infants.

Philtral length, oral intercommissural distance, and sternal length were measured in 252 neonates. Mean /+- 2 SD values considering gestational age and birth weight are provided in tables. The data promote objectively concerning these variants in the newborn infant with special reference to prematurity and intrauterine growth retardation.
