Abstract
Depression is a common psychiatric disturbance of late life that is frequently not recognized by nonpsychiatric physicians. Confusion in psychiatric nosology, variability in clinical presentation, increased frequency of medical disease and medication use and cultural biases toward older persons complicate the diagnosis. Detection of depression is important because often this disorder can be successfully treated.Entities:
