A model of ventricular fibrillation in the isolated rat heart.

B Woodward.

Abstract

A simple technique is described for the induction of reversible ventricular fibrillation in the isolated rat heart. Fibrillation is induced by doubling the calcium chloride and halving the sodium chloride concentration of the perfusate. Fibrillation can be prevented by Class I antiarrhythmic drugs and verapamil.
