Abstract
The working conditions in 225 small-scale industrial premises representing nine different trades with a labor force of 1,497 were studied. The provision of drinking water, hand washing and toilet facilities, eating places and cloakrooms was found to be generally unsatisfactory. The indoor workers were on the whole better provided for than those working outdoors except for the provision of cloakrooms and eating places where the reverse was the case. Sanitation was found to be inversely related to the size of the firms (p less than 0.05). Ways of improving the conditions of these people working in rather hazardous circumstances are discussed.Entities:
