Abstract
Although cardiac surgery has become the standard procedure for management of intracardiac and extracardiac defects in developed countries, it is still relatively new in Africa. This report describes our first successful open heart surgery on a 16-year-old Nigerian boy who underwent open pulmonary valvotomy under cardiopulmonary bypass for congenital pulmonary stenosis at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria, on September 18, 1979.Entities:
