Abstract
Two endoprostheses, the Moore and the Christiansen, for the treatment of fresh intracapsular fractures of the neck of the femur in the aged were compared at intervals of an average follow-up of over two years. There was better hip function, less pain, fewer instances of acetabular intrusion, and a lower incidence of total failure of the prosthesis in the Christiansen group. Using Harris' rating system, the Moore prosthesis group averaged a low score of 55 points, while the Christiansen group averaged 77 points. The latter indicates a fair to good result. The Christiansen prosthesis was most effective in the treatment of intracapsular fracture of the neck of the femur in the aged.Entities:
