Abstract
Cimetidine in a low dose of 10 mg given intravenously increases significantly the gastric potential difference (GPD) without any inhibitory effect on gastric acid secretion. The increase of GPD after 200 mg cimetidine is higher than after 10 mg. While the high dose of cimetidine prevents the acetylsalicylic acid (ASA)-induced GPD drop, cimetidine in a dose of 10 mg is not able to protect this change. Nevertheless the low dose of cimetidine may have a clinical significance and should be evaluated by clinical studies.Entities:
