Abstract
Anatrophic nephrotomy has facilitated greatly the surgical removal of staghorn calculi. However, the methylene blue technique used to define the anatrophic plane proves time-consuming and may jeopardize renal parenchymal vascular supply by provoking vasospasm. Any technique to minimize these complications would be advantageous. The use of the Doppler stethoscope effectively reduces extensive renal segmental vessel dissection as well as operative and warm ischemia time. The advantage of the Doppler stethoscope in other forms of renal stone surgery is alluded to also.Entities:
