Abstract
Using fluorescent histochemical methods it has been shown that the villi of the jejunum are innervated by noradrenergic fibres. Varicose fibres originating in the plexus associated with the arterioles of the submucosa run close to the central lacteal and extend to the villus tip. It is suggested that the nerves may be involved in the control of absorption although exactly which structure in the villi are innervated remains unclear.Entities:
