Assay of trimethoprim, sulfadiazine and its N4-acetyl metabolite in biological fluids by normal-phase high-performance liquid chromatography.

V Ascalone.

Abstract

A normal-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic method was developed to determine the concentration of timethoprim, sulfadiazine and its N4-acetyl derivative in human serum and urine. The unchanged compounds and the metabolite are extracted in organic solvent by a single extraction. The method is accurate and sensitive and suited for pharmacokinetic studies in man.
