Tumor calcification after radiotherapy demonstrated by computed tomography.

L Kreel, G Bydder.

Abstract

Tumor ossification or calcification occurring after radiotherapy was shown by computed tomography (CT) in three cases. In both the case within the abdomen and that within the pelvis these changes were also apparent on plain films, but in the third case, involving the nasopharynx, no evidence of calcification was seen without CT. In the two cases of carcinoma, ossification or calcification indicated resolution, but in the case of lymphoma these changes were accompanied by rapid recurrence in adjacent tissue.
