Debrisan: an effective new wound cleanser.

Debrisan (Pharmacia GB), an insoluble hydrophilic powder of polymerised dextran, has recently become available in Britain as a wound cleansing agent. So far it has proved to be an effective, if costly, agent for the initial cleaning of moist varicose ulcers, but once the slough has been removed, it has no advantage over more traditional methods in promoting ulcer healing.
