Abstract
Evaluation and selection of drugs, and determination of the optimal regimen, for controlled-release pharmaceutical products necessitate the reassessment of the pharmacology of drugs delivered at controlled rates. We have developed osmotic pumps for this purpose. These pumps, 1- and 2-week duration implants for animal studies, and 12- and 24-hour forms for oral and rectal administration in clinical studies, provide precise, accurate control over rate and duration of systemic or local drug delivery.Mesh:
