Abstract
The results of surgery in 126 patients with benign peptic ulceration and 57 with sigmoid volvulus presenting at a hospital in N India are discussed. Complications of ulceration, apart from stenosis, were rare and most patients underwent vagotomy and gastroenterostomy. Gangrenous sigmoid volvulus was mainly treated by resection and immediate anastomosis, while non-gangrenous volvulus was treated by colopexy. The aetiology of both conditions is discussed.Entities:
