Abstract
The method used for prolonged continuous measurement of arterial blood pressure in surgical intensive care unit is describe. It was employed in 150 persons aged 1--65 year for periods of up to 30 days. It involved arteriotomy of the super-ficial temporal artery followed by the insertion of a catheter. The absence of side-effects in any of the 150 patients makes this technique very suitable for prolonged continuous blood pressure measurements.Entities:
