Syphilis: an otolaryngologic perspective.

J S McNulty, R L Fassett.

Abstract

Early syphilis incidence has been increasing in the United States for the past several years. The post-antibiotic generation of physicians has generally been inadequately trained to recognize the varied manifestations of this disease, yet can expect to encounter it on a more frequent basis in the near future. A literature review of otolaryngologic presentations and the problems of diagnosis and treatment are presented as an aid to the recognition and management of this disease.
