Whisker hair--an update.

O T Norwood.

Abstract

Whisker hair is short, curly, dark hair that grows anterior to, above, and behind the ears in young persons who eventually develop severe androgenic alopecia. It is called whisker hair by lay persons because of its proximity and similarity to beard hair. Presented herein are some previously reported cases of whisker hair and a hypothesis on its eventual fate.
