Simultaneous bilateral central dislocation of the hip--an unusual complication of eclampsia.

A N Varma, S K Seth, M Verma.

Abstract

Bilateral hip injuries are rare. A case of bilateral central dislocation of the hip caused by eclamptic convulsions is reported because of its rarity. Further, eclampsia as a cause of bilateral central dislocation has not been reported earlier. All the earlier 11 cases were due to therapeutic convulsions before 1960. The patient reported here was ambulatory 6 months after injury, with some restriction of rotation and abduction.
