[Psychological studies in congenital heart disease of childhood (author's transl)].

H C Steinhausen, W Bruhn.

Abstract

A series of 36 consecutively referred children suffering from congenital heart disease was studied as far as intelligence, personality and perceived parental behaviour were concerned. The findings support the psychological normalcy rather than the deviance. Only heart disease associated with physical handicap implies a risk of psychological abnormalities in the areas of intelligence and personality.
