Compliance with therapeutic regimens is an important factor in therapy often overlooked by therapists. Because of methodological and definitory problems the data in the literature are hardly comparable dealing with the frequency of non-compliance. Factors associated with non-compliance are: psychiatric diagnosis, instable family, inadequate supervision, complexity of treatment, especially in elderly patients.
