Abstract

From a number of novel N-alkylated derivatives of 1-amino-3-phenyl-indole tested as tetrabenzaine antagonists, binodaline hydrochloride (X) has been selected as a potential antidepressant substance for clinical trials. The structure of the side chain is compared to that of known tricyclic antidepressants.
