Galactorrhoea, amenorrhoea and hyperprolactinaemia after an operation on the breast: A case report.

M P Sandler, M B Forman, R Lopis, W J Kalk.

Abstract

A patient in whom there was a temporal relationship between an operation on the breast and the onset of galactorrhoea, amenorrhoea and hyperprolactinaemia is described. It is suggested that the operation initiated excessive prolactin secretion via the neural suckling reflex, and that the galactorrhoea and amenorrhoea were caused by the elevated serum prolactin levels.
