Abstract
Based on the work of the Replantation Committee of the International Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, general definitions in the field of replantation surgery are outlined. Specially the terms total and subtotal amputations in contrast to the term of revascularisation are clearly separated. In the other part of the paper general ideas are discussed about the different aspects for the judgement of the late functional results. It is recommended that an assessment of how the patient can use his replanted parts in his profession and daily life should receive particular emphasis.Entities:
