Recent trends in recorded incidence and mortality from uterine cancer.

R P Gallagher, J M Elwood.

Abstract

Recorded age-adjusted uterine cancer incidence trends for a 10-year period (1969-78) and mortality trends for an 18-year period (1958-76) were examined for British Columbia. Mortality has been declining steadily for cancer of the uterine cervix for all age groups; however, over the past few years (1973-78), the recorded incidence of invasive cervical cancer has increased among women 20-44 years of age. At the same time, incidence of carcinoma in situ of the cervix has increased. Incidence of cancer of the uterine corpus increased for women 45-64 and over 65 years between 1969 and 1975, but it leveled off in the middle of the decade. No corresponding rise in mortality was seen.
