Abstract
The characteristics, localisation and extraction of 262 non-magnetic intraocular and intraorbital foreign bodies in 148 consecutive patients are described. The postoperative visual acuity results show no change in 45%, an improvement in 35% and a worsening in 20% of the eyes. The precise dynamic localisation before and during surgery, and particularly the intraoperative visualisation of the non-magnetic foreign bodies are to be considered as the most important points in surgical treatment of these cases.Entities:
