Abstract
Adult patients with primary basilar impression were four times more likely to have a history of birth injury than a control group. Distortion of basicranial synchondroses during birth is suggested as a possible mechanism and, in association with hindbrain herniation and arachnoid adhesions, may contribute towards the development of syringomyelia.Entities:
