Meningeal myeloma.

L D Truong, H S Kim, R Estrada.

Abstract

A case of leptomeningeal myeloma is described and a brief review of the reported cases is made. Afflicted patients may be neurologically asymptomatic or may present with a clinical picture similar to carcinomatous and lymphomatous meningitis. Atypical plasma cells and monoclonal immunoglobulin in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) are the two most important findings for the diagnosis of leptomeningeal involvement in a patient with multiple myeloma.
