Efficient enzymatic hydrolysis of polyprenyl pyrophosphates.

H Fujii, T Koyama, K Ogura.

Abstract

A method of efficient enzymatic hydrolysis of polyprenyl pyrophosphates was established. Polyprenyl pyrophosphates such as all-trans-octaprenyl and all-trans-nonaprenyl (solanesyl) pyrophosphate can be hydrolyzed completely to the corresponding primary alcohols by the action of potato acid phosphatase in the presence of 60% (v/v) methanol.
