Abstract
Sequential lavage is introduced as a new treatment for severe diffuse purulent peritonitis. Following surgical removal of the focus and intraoperative intraabdominal lavage, the sequential lavage technique was applied with length of treatment dependent on the severity of each case. Data from 21 patients were recorded for the study. Subject lethality was 19%. Three patients survived the so-called "incurable triad".Entities:
