Abstract
Various herniae present at the time of major abdominal surgery were managed by simple occulusion of the peritoneal opening of the sac by interrupted metal clips. Short-term success (the longest follow-up is over 44 months) in 11 of a series of 12 patients (one patient died before follow-up could be carried out) has led to the development of a method for closure of the neck of the sac via laparoscopy. This approach has been used in one case with early success and a full clinical trial is being planned.Entities:
