Abstract

Experimental transmission of the yellow fever virus by the tick Amblyomma variegatum (F.) (The Tropical Bont Tick) is demonstrated for the first time. The tick transmitted the virus from one monkey to another. Trans-stasial passage from nymph to adult stage was also demonstrated. The possible role of Amblyomma variegatum as a vector and a potential reservoir of yellow fever is discussed.
