Abstract
A local spiking interneuron in the locust is excited by particular sensory stimulation of a hind leg and forms an inhibitory connection with one hind leg motor neuron. Its behavioral effect is to mediate a local postural reflex. This interneuron is one of a population of interneurons with similar morphology and physiology that participate in the same local circuits as the better known nonspiking local interneurons.Mesh:
