Abstract
The procoagulant properties of venous Australian snakes are limited to prothrombin activation. Venoms of Notechis scutatus, Tropidechis carinatus and Pseudechis porphyriacus require phospholipid, calcium and factor V to maximally activate normal prothrombin. Venoms of Pseudonaja textilis and Oxyuranus microlepidotus activate both normal prothrombin and the decarboxy form and do not require co-factors. The actions of the venom of Oxyuranus scutellatus are dependent on concentration.Entities:
