Abstract
A rare case of a posterior fracture-dislocation of the hip joint with an ipsilateral subcapital fracture in a young woman is presented. The isolated femoral head was displaced in the subcutaneous area in the buttock. A possible explanatory mechanism of dual injury is that the posterior fracture-dislocation occurred first and then a lateral blow to the buttock caused the subcapital fracture. The missing fragment of the femoral head, in two parts, was located and replaced with a prosthesis before the hip was reduced. An extensive search in the literature failed to reveal a similar case.Entities:
