Abstract
Opportunistic infections, often fatal, are frequent concomitants of congenital and acquired immunodeficiencies. The authors report a case of fatal cryptococcosis in a 5-month-old male infant with severe combined immunodeficiency. The anatomic distribution of cryptococcal lesions suggests that the terminal small intestine, as well as the lower respiratory tract, may serve as a portal of entry for this organism.Entities:
