Abstract
Response characteristics of taste neurons in the sheep solitary tract and nuclei alter during development. Solitary tract cells in younger fetuses respond to stimulation of the tongue with fewer salts and acids than do cells in older fetuses, lambs, and adults. Further, responses to specific salts and acids develop in a particular sequence, not randomly. These changes may relate to maturation of taste receptor sites.Entities:
