Abstract
We have cloned the regulatory gene cluster of Escherichia coli which is composed of at least two distinct genes, ompR and envZ. These genes are known to regulate the production of the outer membrane matrix proteins. The newly formed plasmids were found to complement not only ompR mutations but also envZ mutations. The ompR gene product was identified as a protein of an apparent molecular weight of 28,500.Entities:
