Abstract
Problems of defining equity and equality of access are not trivial; there are fundamental disagreements about the nature of health care as a social good and about other principles of distributive justice. Presuppositions about equity underlying several current proposals for reform of health care "markets" are considered. Issues of equity--and theories of justice--arise also in contexts other than disputes about access. Keywords: Health Care and Public Health
