Surgery of the foot in falcons: a historic operation.

J E Cooper.

Abstract

The history of diseases of the feet in falcons is briefly outlined; such diseases were recognised in Britain as long ago as the fifteenth century. The severity of the lesions varies and may conveniently be divided into three types. Surgery is of value in the treatment of Type-2 lesions and consists of the removal, under general anaesthesia, of infected and necrotic material.
