Reappraisal of the present situation in prevention and control of lung cancer.

Abstract

Lung cancer is a significant health problem in developed countries and is rapidly becoming a problem in developing countries. This report reviews the available information on the epidemiology, pathology, diagnosis, therapy, early detection and primary prevention of lung cancer. Minimum essential diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are proposed. Priority approaches to the implementation of lung cancer prevention programmes and research activities are outlined.
