Transcutaneous nerve stimulation in labour.

C M Miller Jones.

Abstract

Transcutaneous nerve stimulation was assessed as a method of relieving pain in labour in 51 patients. The majority of patients found it sufficiently helpful to want to use it again in any subsequent labour, and it reduced the overall pethidine requirement compared with controls. It did not have an effect on Apgar neonatal scores or length of labour.
