Familial spontaneous pneumothorax and HLA antigens.

Abstract

Twenty-three members of a family in which six persons had repeated spontaneous pneumothorces were studied for physical, chemical and genetic markers of this disease. A relationship between the HLA haplotype A2, B40, the alpha 1, antitrypsin phenotype M1 M2 and the occurrence of spontaneous pneumothorax was suggested in this family.
