Psychosomatics of accidents.

Psychological factors play an important role in the cause of accidents, while personality traits and emotional reactions influence the individual's adaptation to injury and residual disability. Psychosomatic disturbances are one of the consequences of an unsuccessful resolution of this process and an account is give of its many facets with special reference to Papua new Guinea.
